The fifth annual conference of the Collaborative Research Centre "Processes of Spatialization under the Global Condition" (SFB 1199) focuses on mobilities as a space-making practice while concentrating on mobile actors as spatial entrepreneurs. Researchers from the IfL will present findings on how to visualise mobility.
In the kick-off panel "The Challenges of Mapping Mobilities" of the four-day online conference, Dr Jana Moser, Head of the Cartography and Visual Communication Department at the IfL, will show the range of visualisation possibilities of mobility. Another focus of her presentation "Visualizing Mobilities – Visualized Mobilities" is the question of how certain methods of complexity reduction influence the perception of map contents, how maps make spatial formats visible, and to what extent these formats and visualizations are (can be) questioned. Prof Dr Francis Harvey, head of the IfL research group "Data and Practices", comments on the contribution by Jana Moser.
