The freely accessible web offer includes a version for pupils and an adult course. The courses were created between August 2022 and March 2023 at the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe as a joint project with the Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography, the Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe, the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media | Georg Eckert Institute, the Leibniz Institute for Research on Eastern and South Eastern Europe, the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Research as well as the German Institute for Adult Education - Leibniz Centre for Lifelong Learning and the Leibniz Institute for Knowledge Media.
IfL Director Sebastian Lentz accompanied the cooperation as a facilitator and advisor. The IfL's Department of Cartography and Visual Communication adapted maps and illustrations for the course and produced additional material. The project was funded by the Leibniz Association.
