The Institute always hosts guest researchers from Germany and abroad, who use the infrastructure of the Institute and present their projects for discussion.
Leonid Klimov is Journalist in Residence at the IfL in June/July and September 2023. He works as a science editor at the online magazine dekoder.org, which publishes Russian and Belarusian journalism in German translation with contextualising contributions from European scientists. He is using his time at the IfL for preliminary work on a new type of online magazine at the interface between science and journalism. Among other things, he will look at ways of embedding maps and geovisual elements in digital projects.
Stephan Pietsch graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Geography from Friedrich Schiller University Jena in 2010. After completing his Master's degree in human geography in Mainz (graduated in 2014) and a stay abroad in Prague (2011–2012), he worked as a research assistant at the IfL since 2014, including in the project "SpielRäume - Entdeckungs- und Erlebnisraum Landschaft". As a guest researcher at the IfL, he is completing his dissertation on the topic of playful knowledge transfer, which he has been working on at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen since 2021.
