IfL started as a geographical museum in 1896, but the collections include partly significantly older media and documents, in particual old maps from the 17th to 19th century. Besides well-known Flemish-Dutch maps ore those from Nuremberg cartographers, there are also rare map sheets, for example originating from Alphons Stübel’s South American travels. The digitized maps and plans are also available with open access at the Wikimedia Commons database.
